Here's a rundown of how local multiplayer was managed by distinguishing different input for each player

Punch function - anim script handled determining whether a left punch should be used or a right punch, and then update the rigged sloth appropriately

The resultant of the punch is managed here

So if a player is hit, apply a force and subtract some of their score, but have bonus effects if they were subject to a status ailment

Furthermore, do similar things to buildings, but to gain score instead

Buildings could drop power ups, there were two stat increasing power ups and, a fire power + ice power. 

Fire and Ice affects buildings and players similarly
